Abstract

Wound infections are a significant public health concern, and the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria has necessitated the search for alternative antimicrobial agents. This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of cloves essential oil against common wound bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The results showed that cloves essential oil exhibited significant antimicrobial activity against all the tested bacteria, with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) ranging from 0.5 to 2.0 mg/mL. The study suggests that cloves essential oil may be a useful natural remedy for the prevention and treatment of wound infections. Further studies are needed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of cloves essential oil for wound care.
