Abstract

The dynamic relationship between literature and social media has evolved into a vibrant space for feminist reinterpretation and cultural critique. Social media platforms are revolutionising the ways in which classical literature is consumed, reimagined and discussed, particularly through a feminist lens. They empower readers and creators to challenge patriarchal narratives embedded in canonical texts by offering alternative interpretations that resonate with contemporary values. The paper explores how digital spaces foster a renewed interest in classical literature, with a desire to uncover and rewrite gendered power structures. Feminist reimagining, which often focus on silenced female characters, abusive dynamics, or the limitations of romantic ideals, circulate widely on social media. Here, they gain cultural traction and provoke viral engagement. These platforms also pave the way for literary discourse by enabling new authors to gain visibility and by encouraging readers to share their personalized, subversive readings. In doing so, they destabilize traditional literary authority and open up transformative feminist dialogues within digital culture.
