Abstract
This research paper is a systematic investigation to ascertain the strategic Role of Cross-Border Trade and Investment in Uniting Africa for Economic Transformation. In order to unite Africa for economic transformation, cross-border trade and investment are strategically essential because they promote regional integration, boost economic growth, and lower poverty. The goal of important projects, including the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), is to establish a unified market that boosts global competitiveness and propels industrialization. The objectives of this study are to ascertain the Strategic Role of Cross-Border Trade and Investment in Uniting Africa for Economic Transformation. The study also was to determine the specific roles of African regional communities in uniting Africa for Economic transformation. The study investigated the African Continental Free trading Area (AfCFTA) to determine its implementation in Africa and how it can increase intra-African trade by 52% according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa 2025 projections. The study adopted a systematic review of literature which is appropriate for this kind of research. The result of this study found that through the establishment of a single market through programmes like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), cross-border investment and trade promote economic development in Africa. They stimulate growth by opening up new markets, generating employment, and drawing in money through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which also contributes management and technological know-how as well as global competitiveness and fosters industrialization. The study also concludes that in order to streamline customs and remove trade barriers, regional economic communities are essential to increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of intra-African trades and businesses. The study recommends full implementation of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the full engagement of Regional Economic Communities which facilitates Cross-Border trades and investments.
