Youth Aspirations in India: Opportunities and Challenges in Bhagat's novels “The 3 Mistakes of My Life " and "Revolution 2020"
Abstract
This paper examines the theme of youth aspirations in contemporary India through a close reading of Chetan Bhagat's two widely read novels, The 3 Mistakes of My Life (2008) and Revolution 2020 (2011). Set against the backdrop of a rapidly liberalizing Indian economy, both novels portray young protagonists navigating the tension between personal ambition, social expectation, and systemic constraint. The study explores how Bhagat depicts entrepreneurship, education, communal identity, and romantic aspiration as intersecting forces that shape the choices and destinies of India's youth.
